Hawksbridge Institute presented Master Classes throughout 2007 and 2008, featuring such virtuoso String players as Larry
Veal, Cellist; Robert Eshbach, Violinist; and John Hunter, Bassist.
Professor Veal presented
a Cello Master Class to a sold-out conference group. He gave the cellists his interpretation of a Bach Suite, showed new ways
to approach the cellist's posture, and gave excellent pointers on choosing the right instrument.
Robert
Eshbach, Violinist, Conductor, and Author, presented a Vibrato Workshop to a full house. Vibrato is extremely
difficult for String players of any age, and he shared his secrets to an enthralled crowd of enthusiastic String players.
He is just back from several research trips to Europe, and is returning to Hawksbridge Institute in 2009 to
discuss his newest book on the life and music of Joachim.
John Hunter, Bass Professor from UNH,
has given several Bass Master Classes. It's no wonder he is in demand as a pre-eminent Bass clinician. His Bass classes
were one of most popular workshops. He will return in 2009 to continue his series for acoustic upright bass players.
The
NIGHT SHIFT String Orchestra paid a visit to Hawksbridge for an open rehearsal and performance. Participants were
able to sit next to the musicians during the rehearsal and were treated to a stunning performance at the end of the Master
Class.
